bicycle friction shifter slips, what can i use to “lube” it?
i have a pair of older suntour sprint friction shifters, the shifter for the front derailleur had been giving me problems. so it took it apart and cleaned the inside which consisted of aluminum washers and now it doesn’t hold at all. i was wondering if there was something i can put inside the shifter to help it hold better.
As long as you put it back together correctly it should hold by tightening the center screw. Use a liquid grease to lubricate the inside of the shifter. That should just about do it.
